Behind-the-Wheel Training: 7 Total Appointments

Lesson Length – Each session is about 1 hour and 40 minutes.

50 minutes driving.

50 minutes observing another student drive.

First 6 Lessons = Practice

Focus on learning, practicing, and improving skills with your instructor.

7th Lesson = Road Test
-
Students must bring their classroom completion form.

If you pass, you’ll receive a Driver Training Certificate (DTS-B).

Certificate is valid for 180 days.

About the DTS-B Certificate
-
Works with your Learner’s Permit as a temporary license.
-
Becomes valid once you:

Are at least 16 years and 3 months old, and
-
Have held your Learner’s Permit for 9 months.

After the Course

We submit your DTS-B to the DMV for official record.

Within about 3 months, your local Juvenile Court will mail you a postcard.

The postcard will include details of your licensing ceremony.

At the ceremony, you’ll receive your permanent Driver’s License.

After three failed attempts, you must complete a DMV-approved Re-Examination Course before you can retake the test.
